Summer Feng Shui

Summer is the time to be out of doors as much as one can.  Whether it’s having a meal in the open air, spending time in your yard enjoying the warm weather.

Gardening Feng Shui is so important.  It’s time to walk around the yard and pull out any dead plants or trim dead leaves.  Some plants have finished flowering others need replacing.  Also checking for bugs and weeds, may be irrigation leaks.

Any of these situations have an affect on the Feng Shui or flow of energy around your house.

Living in a climate where the weather doesn’t make you feel like being outside, it’s great to bring some flowers inside whether a potted flowering plant cut flowers.  Take a moment to choose the colors that really attract you right now.  The colors you are attracted to can change with the seasons.

If it’s too hot outside choose cool colors like blues.  If it’s overcast choose pinks, reds, or yellows.

When I lived in Sedona I didn’t want red around me in the summer.  Red is too hot a color in a hot climate.   In the middle of winter, was when I would choose red.

Feng Shui Wealth and Finances

Thinking about Finances is more apparent as we get closer to April 15.  Are you spending more than your income?  My Feng Shui Master told me in 1996 don’t spend more than what you have.  I used to speculate how much I would have at the end of the month and spent that amount in mind.  He said “if you live in the red, accumulating debt, the red grows.  If you live in the green money grows.”

Doing Feng Shui in the money corners can make this growing money happen easily.

Have a look at your money corner (the far left corner from the main entrance to a building or room or apartment)  Clean the clutter put something red or purple or a picture that reflects abundance in life.

You could put a fountain in the money corner of the living room or office (but not a bedroom).

Have fun!

Feng Shui Colors and What You Wear

In Santa Barbara, the scent of flowers blooming everywhere stops me in my tracks.  “Where is that beautiful fragrance coming from?”  The question pops up and the sensitivity of my nose becomes even more apparent.  Jasmine tresses, trees with deep purple flowers, white, yellow, lilac, colored daisies.  And I naturally want to dress in those luscious spring colors.

For those who are more attentive to what they wear, feng shui principals extend to the colors we wear influencing our moods and general wellbeing.  When I see someone dressed in a beautiful color I feel cheered.

And if you are in a cold dreary place not yet feeling the joys of the spring sunshine wearing red can give you energy.   If you’re going through deep sadness, loss, the blues I would avoid wearing blue.

However, if you’re agitated,  impatient, angry, avoid red.  Red holds and attracts energy, blue slows energy down.  Green helps things grow.

Waiting to Move Forward

Are you waiting for a business deal to close, or an interview for a job or school to be successful, or for that special person to make a difference in your life?

Putting a message in the Helpful People corner thanking the person for being there for contributing to your life already can get things moving.

My client was waiting for a co-signing person to close the sale of a business.  As she put a letter of thanks to him in a red envelope in the Helpful People corner  (the first right corner of the main entrance)

The phone rang to say the paper was signed.

Santa Barbara Feng Shui

Moving to the Santa Barbara area in California many different Feng Shui situations arise.

Although we love the ocean being at every turn on the road , we want to balance the water element with some fire element.  Having some red accents in a home where water is the main surrounding element is a good idea.  In general especially in bathrooms, laundry rooms, and by the kitchen sink where water is even more prevalent.

And of course the Santa Barbara area is very mountainous.  When living on a hill as I do, you have to slow down the traffic of the road by putting tiny mirrors by the side of the road facing the downward flow of the traffic.  Feng Shui principals say our money goes down the hill with the flow of traffic so the mirrors act as a cure to slow down the flow away from your house.

Santa Barbara residents are generally packed into the city, land being so expensive and space limited.

Sometimes we need cures to take off the edge of noise.  Hanging windchimes between your home and the source of noise, be it the freeway or dogs that bark regularily or neighbours boisterous activitisies.

Using our intention to send energy back with love mysteriously help us relax.  Try it and see for yourself.
